The workshops, along with keynote presentations and 1-week classroom residencies, are designed to train groups of teachers in a variety of educational performing arts activities and techniques. These techniques have been developed and are led by a select group of Wolf Trap Institute Artists specially chosen and trained as Master Artists.

Master Artists use their particular artistic disciplines to demonstrate the effectiveness of the arts in early learning. Their original and highly effective activities and teaching strategies introduce and reinforce designated skills and concepts such as colors, numbers, and seasons; while fostering self-esteem, engagement, and a joy of learning. The activities may also integrate different cultures into the curriculum, as well as emphasize and develop emergent literacy and language skills.
