At The Center for Education at Wolf Trap

  • The Center for Education at Wolf TrapWe are a little warmer in the summer and a little cooler in the winter. Changing our office thermostat by a few degrees saves both energy and money.
  • Using more energy efficient light bulbs. Most recently, we have converted incandescent bulbs in elevators to compact fluorescent.
  • Recycling paper, metal, plastic, glass, and cardboard.
  • Grasscycling lawn trimmings.
  • Siemens HVAC controls optimize energy use.
  • With help from Booz Allen Hamilton, we have instituted a systematic preventative maintenance program to keep systems running at peak efficiency.
  • Scheduling and monitoring heating and air conditioning to minimize electric and gas consumption.

At The Center For Education at Wolf Trap, We are Transitioning to These Practices:

  • Using recycled paper products at the Center for Education (paper towels, toilet paper, copy paper).
  • Using green friendly cleaning solutions.
  • Eliminating use of Styrofoam cups, plastic utensils, plastic trash bags.
  • Increasing the amount of recycling.
